But what now? In short, the name of the game is to get your music into the ears of as many people as possible, to find your fans and win them over for life (ILY). But finding an audience can be hard and does take time.
And that’s when we call on our dear old friends: marketing and publicity. Of course! Blog interviews, reviews and Instagram adverts! But like… uh, how?
Find out at the next instalment of our Music Industry Masterclasses. In this week’s session we’ll be demystifying the words marketing and publicity to better understand their similarities, and also how they differ.
This masterclass will be led by two of this year’s Music Industry Mentees, Darcey Luscombe and Veda Varcoe (@vedavarcoe), who’ll be popping you into virtual hang out rooms to hear from our subject matter experts: Georgia Cooke (Publicist, Remote Control Records) and Mardi Caught (Marketing Executive, The Annex).
After two short presentations, the student (aka you) will become… the teacher. You’ll be mixed into small groups and asked to explain the subject you just heard to those who were in the other session. The session will wrap up with a short Q&A with both speakers. All attendees will be sent recordings of both speaker’s presentations, following this week’s Masterclass.
