Access All-Ages

The Push is calling on our leaders to listen to the needs of young Australians in music.

We know that music plays a vital role in the lives of young Australians. Participation in music can be the defining moment in a young person’s life, providing feelings of social connectedness, commonality and belonging, and collective understanding.

That’s why in 2025, we’re asking our political leaders to commit to an investment in The Push to deliver the All-Ages Events Teams across Australia.  With an investment of $6.8 million over four years, The Push could roll out the introduction of a National All-Ages Events Teams program.

Delivered by The Push, The All-Ages Events Teams will provide grants for 25 outer-suburban and regional community organisations and local governments to support teams of young people to lead the planning, development and delivery of music events in their local communities.

We’ve seen the success of the All-Ages Events Team already, and we know this program will enrich outer-suburban and regional communities across Australia by:

  • Reaching more than 120,000 young Australians.

  • Creating an estimated 1,200 employment opportunities.

  • Providing young Australians with local and affordable live music experiences.

  • Creating pathways for young people to access performance and career development opportunities.

  • Opening a door to new connections and opportunities for young people to interact with their local communities.

“Live music can be a transformative experience for a generation of young Australians that are experiencing financial, social and emotional stress at the highest rates on record. Supporting a new generation of Australian music fans as event organisers and audiences will not only give young Australians the opportunity to find their community, but it will also shore up the economic outlook for the Australian live music industry, currently experiencing disruption and decline.“

– Kate Duncan, CEO of The Push

Young people told us this is what they want to see investment in.

In September 2024, The Australia Institute and The Push undertook a first of its kind national survey with young Australians aged 16 to 25 about their participation in music events. We heard from young people that:
