Got a song that you think is a banger? Want to workshop it with one of your favourite Australian artists?
Submissions are now open for The Push’s Song Writing Sessions program.
Song Writing Sessions is a one-on-one online coaching program for young music makers in the early stages of their music career. Over a 45-minute online session, program participants get the opportunity to workshop one of their own original songs and receive direct feedback from an established Australian songwriter.

How do I apply?
Please note: the Song Writing Sessions application will take you approximately 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

+ What are the requirements?
50 participants will be selected for The Push’s Song Writing Sessions through a competitive application process. Applications will be assessed against criteria including:
• Be aged between 14 – 25 years
• Live in Australia
• Have one original song ready to workshop and receive feedback on
• Originality and relevance of song writing style and content, shown through example/s of work. (Please note: sound recordings do not have to be professionally recorded. They may be recordings of live performances or demos.)
If you are selected for the program you must be able to commit to 1 x 45 minute online song writing session between Wednesday 20 May 2020 – Sunday 31 May 2020
Participants must also have active internet, and ability to video conference via Zoom.
+ Who can apply?
While the Song Writing Sessions are open to all young Australians aged 14 – 25, priority access will be given to:
• First Nations young people
• Young people of colour
• Young women
• Non-binary young people
• Young people with a disability
• LGBTQIA+ young people
+ What will I get out of participating in the program?
If you are selected to participate in the program:
1) You will be sent a link to book in your 45-minute online session.
2) We will ask you to send us a copy of your song and any lyrics for us to give to the artist prior to your session.
3) You and the artist you are being coached by will log into a Zoom meeting at the time of your session. This session will be recorded and supervised by a staff member of The Push.
4) At the end of your online session we will send you a quick survey so we can make the program better for the next group of young music makers.

We will try our best to match you with one of your top listed artists, as per your application, however this will be subject to demand.
+ How much does the program cost?
Participation in the Song Writing Sessions is free.
The Push offers financial subsidies for internet access to participants who may be experiencing financial hardship.
