Push Records wants to hear fresh new music from Victorian artists aged 16 – 25. Send us your tracks and you might land yourself a record deal.
We’ve recently launched a youth-led independent record label. And now we’re getting ready sign and release new music made by young artists, for young audiences.
Once signed to the Push Records roster, you’ll be teamed up with young people from our label team to record, refine and release your own single.
Working together across a six-month period, you’ll be mentored and exposed to networking opportunities with music industry professionals and representatives from the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR), Ditto, Remote Control Records, triple j Unearthed, Sanicki Lawyers and Nina Las Vegas.
This is an opportunity for you to gain practical experience and establish your networks within the industry, while being mentored by established artists, recording engineers and producers.
As an artist on our roster, you’ll receive:
Pre-production planning with music industry professionals
Studio sessions to record, mix and master your music
Personalised legal advice
One high-quality music video to accompany your single
Career planning sessions
Professional branding and graphic design assistance
Digital distribution to get your music on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and more
An integrated marketing and publicity campaign

+ Who can apply?
While the Push Records program is open to all young Victorians aged 16-25, priority access will be given to:
• First Nations young people
• Young people of colour
• Young people from low-income households
• Young women
• Non-binary young people
• Young people with a disability
• LGBTQIA+ young people
+ What are the requirements?
• Artists must be aged between 16 - 25 years
• Artists must live, work or study within Victoria
• Artists must have at least one original song composed, ready for pre-production and recording
• All recorded material must be of a non-offensive nature
• One artist representative must be available to attend at least 90% of weekly Push Records meetings via Zoom
• All signed artists are expected to make themselves available for additional program-related opportunities. This may include media interviews, photo shoots, video clip filming and online meetings with industry professionals
• All signed artists are expected to provide and maintain their own musical equipment throughout the duration of the program
• All signed artists are required to regularly communicate and collaborate with the Push Records committee and The Push All-Ages Manager
• All signed artists are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times, be focused towards developing their musical career and releasing their product through the Push Records program

+ How much does this program cost?
Participation in the Push Records program is free, however some program costs incurred are recoupable through artist release sales. The Push offers financial support for travel and technology to participants from low-income households.

+ When does this prorgam take place?
The Push Records program is delivered over five-months between February – June 2021. Weekly online meetings happen on Wednesdays between 4pm and 6pm via Zoom.
