Are you a young musician or band in New South Wales looking to play on one of the biggest stages in Sydney?

We’re looking for a young musician or band in New South Wales to play the opening spot for Mallrat and Tiffi at Vivid Sydney. Set the tone and perform to a huge crowd on the opening night of Vivid Sydney, ahead of these massive acts!

This is a paid, live performance opportunity NOT to miss.

• This competition opens 10am AEDT 9 April 2024 and close at 5pm AEDT 22 April 2024.
• We will be choosing one local young bands or artists to play at Vivid Sydney on 24 May 2024.
• The winner(s) will be chosen by The Push and All-Ages Events Team for Vivid Sydney.
• The winner(s) will be picked based on their ability to deliver a good live performance suitable for one or more of the above shows.
• The winner(s) will be notified the notified of outcome 26 April 2024.
• The winner(s) will receive the opportunity to perform at Vivid Sydney, 24 May 2024, supporting Mallrat and Tiffi.
• The winner(s) will receive a single performance fee for the show of $1,000 across the whole performing outfit (regardless of band size).
• Artists will be responsible for making their way to and from the event.
• If any winner(s) is under 18 years of age, they must be accompanied to the event by a guardian, parent or carer at their own expense.
• The prize is not transferable or redeemable for cash.
• No replacement will be offered in the event that the prize cannot be claimed on the stipulated dates.
• Judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
• As a winner, you will be representing The Push at this event. As such you are obligated to behave responsibly and professionally, and comply with the rules and requests that the event organisers ask of you.

+ What do I need to include in my application?

Applicants will be required to submit:

• 1 x 3-minute (max) video introducing yourself (artist name/members/music style), explaining what performing at the show would mean to you, why you believe all-ages shows are important and what has been your most memorable moment in your music career to date. Please name the file: ‘(Artist Name)_Video_Application.mp4’
• 1 x 5-minute (max) video of you performing your best song (this can be in front of a live audience or in your bedroom). Please name the file: ‘(Artist Name)_Live_Performance.mp4’
• Complete online application form including contact details and written responses

+ Who can apply?

While the program is open to all New South Wales artists local young artists and performers under 25 years of age, priority will be given to artists who are:

• First Nations young people
• Young people of colour
• Young women
• Non-binary young people
• Young people with a disability
• LGBTQIA+ young people
