CLOSED - Are you our next Artist in Residence?
The Push’s Artist in Residence program is an opportunity for young women and gender non-conforming music makers to access a mentor, the technology and the space to hone their electronic music craft and unleash their creativity. Each month, one artist in residence will be able to use The Push studio in Collingwood Yards, meet with a mentor and other industry professionals to expand their networks, and grow as a young music creator.
What is the Electronic Music Accelerator?
The Push’s Artist in Residence is supported by Ableton as part of our Electronic Music Accelerator (EMA) program, supporting young women and gender non-conforming music makers, producers and engineers aged 16 - 25 in the beginning or early stages of their music career.
What do I get as a part of the Residency?
The residency gives young women and gender non-conforming people access to the The Push Studio and hardware for 10 hours per week, for one month so you can finally focus on whatever musical project you have in your head.
At the end of your residency, you will do a 20 – 30 minute presentation at the EMA Workshop about one aspect of your practice. This could be about a technical Ableton skill, creativity, or industry skills and knowledge.
Through your residency, you will be supported by legendary music maker Beatrice Lewis. Beatrice will induct you into the space at the start of your residency, check in halfway through to see how you’re going in achieving your goals, and will co-facilitate the EMA session with you at the end of the month.
What will make my application strong?
To make sure your application is strong, clearly identify an outcome you’d like to achieve by the end of the month – whether that’s creating your first four beats, or mixing your latest single.
When will I hear about the outcome of my application?
The program has a rolling intake and the application you make now will be considered each month until June 2023.
If your ambitions or project ideas change over time, you can update your application whenever you want. These updates will then replace your previous application.
If your application is successful, we will reach out via email in the last week of the month to get you set up in our studio the following month.
