What’s the name of your band, who’s in it and where are you all from?
Our Band is called, Overwound which consists of,
- James Herberte on Vocals/Bass
- Tyler Rodi on Guitar
- Sean Leersen on Drums
And we are all From Mildura, Victoria
Briefly tell us the story behind your band and how long you’ve been making music and writing songs?
We have all been friends for a long time and have also been playing together for a number of years, before Overwound was formed. Overwound has been an official band for a little under a year and a half and we started brainstorming songs and Ideas as soon as we formed.
What are your band’s musical influences? Have they evolved from when the band first started out?
We all come from various musical backgrounds, styles and genres, this allows us to combine our musical interests to create an original sound.
Overwound creates a Rock/Blues and Funk-Rock style that displays various elements of our individual genres.
Which Regional Final did you win, and how was the FReeZA Push Start competition experience for you all?
We won the Regional Final in Murtoa, Victoria. The experience has been amazing, FReeZA always put on an amazing event to showcase some amazing talent and we are very proud to be apart of it.
You’ll now be battling it out with eight other bands at the Grand Final at The Push Stage at St Kilda Festival 2017 for a pretty sweet prize pack. Which prize excites you most and why?
We are blown away by having the chance to play on the Push stage at the St Kilda Festival. The Prize packs are amazing and are excited to even have a chance to be able to play for them.
What were your favourite songs or albums for 2016? What music are you most looking forward to next year?
The Guitarist is looking forward to his Guitar influences bringing out new music in 2017 such as, Richie Kotzen, Joe Bonamassa, John mayer.
The Drummer, Sean loves the newest Twenty one pilots album.
The Vocalist/Bassist loves the new Paul Simon Album. He fall in love with the classic song writing and lyrics Paul always delivers.
Where have you performed? What are your favourite shows to play at?
Overwound has played mostly local gigs which consist of Pubs, festivals, and also fundraisers.
We enjoy performing every chance we get, as this allows us to share our music with new audiences.
If you had unlimited amounts of money, what would be your dream gig or tour?
Oh the magical question! Haha. To be able to travel to world and play our music is a dream all three of us have. Touring Australia would be amazing for us, gaining experience, exposure and sharing our music with new audiences would be the ultimate goal.
What’s the plan for your band in 2017, what will you be doing or working on?
We will be recording an EP in 2017, hoping to release it by the end of the year, we look forward to the extended process of writing, recording and releasing our music.
