New Slang – Events Team Applications Now Open

The Push is super excited to launch New Slang – a series of monthly, all-ages events held at Arts Centre Melbourne’s The Channel. These intimate and exclusive events will showcase both touring and local artists to Melbourne’s all-ages audiences.

We are looking for 10 dedicated and enthusiastic tastemakers aged 15-17 to lead the organisation and programming of New Slang and become members of our events team for 2016.

As a New Slang events team member, you will gain hands on experience and training in the contemporary music industry, through extensive event management mentoring and networking opportunities.

The New Slang events team will have fortnightly meetings on Wednesday nights between 5pm and 7pm at The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne.

Throughout fortnightly meetings, New Slang events team members will develop skills in a range of areas including:

  • Stage Management
  • Technical and Sound Production
  • Promotions and Marketing
  • Video Editing and Production
  • Photography
  • Artist Liaison and Bookings
  • Sponsorship
  • Media and Communications

Commencing Wednesday 13 April 2016
New Slang Events

First Friday of every month, 6pm – 9pm
Commencing Friday 6 May 2016

What are the requirements?

  • Be aged between 15 – 17 years old
  • Be able to attend at least 80% of fortnightly New Slang event team meetings (video/teleconference is available for rural and regional members)
  • Be able to attend all New Slang events
  • Be involved as an active participant of the program until December 2016
