New Slang Event Team – Applications Open!

NewSlang-FlatThe Push and Arts Centre Melbourne are looking for 10 dedicated and enthusiastic tastemakers aged 15-17 to lead the organisation and programming of New Slang and become members of our events team for 2017.

New Slang is a monthly, live music series co-presented by The Push and Arts Centre Melbourne. These intimate and exclusive events showcase both touring and local artists to Melbourne’s all-ages audiences.

As a New Slang events team member, you will gain hands on experience, training and networking opportunities in the contemporary music industry, across a range of areas including:

  • Stage Management
  • Technical and Sound Production
  • Promotions and Marketing
  • Video Editing and Production
  • Photography
  • Artist Liaison and Bookings
  • Sponsorship
  • Media and Communications

In addition to organising monthly all-ages events at Arts Centre Melbourne, New Slang events team members will have the opportunity to curate and work on the Live At The Steps event in partnership with Parliament of Victoria, held at Parliament Steps in November.

New Slang events team meetings are fortnightly on Wednesday nights between 5pm and 7pm at The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne.

What are the requirements?


  • Be aged between 15 – 17 years old
  • Be able to attend at least 80% of fortnightly New Slang event team meetings (video/teleconference is available for rural and regional members)
  • Be able to attend all New Slang events
  • Be involved as an active participant of the program until November 2017
