FReeZA Push Start Feature: Mosey

Mosey took out first place at the FReeZA Push Start Northern Country Regional Final on September 27 in Kyneton. They will join eight other regional final winners to play at the FReeZA Push Start Grand Final to be held at Melbourne’s Moomba Festival on Friday 11 March, 2016.

Mosey1Hi guys the name of your band, who’s in it and where are you guys from?

We’re Mosey – Isaac, Bridie and Jimmy, and we are from the Macedon Ranges.

Briefly tell us the story behind your band and how long you’ve been making music and writing songs?

We’ve been best buddies for a while and we started out doing some busking. From this, people started listening to our music and we were offered some local gigs. We began writing just before we entered battle of the bands in June.

What are your band’s musical influences? Have they evolved from when you guys first started out?

We love listening to The Paper Kites, Bon Iver and Angus and Julia Stone, they’ve all influenced the way we play. And the boys really love Beyoncé. We’ve started introducing some more electronic influences into our sound to blend with the acoustic folk style (not because of Beyoncé).

Which Regional Final did you win, and how was the FReeZA Push Start competition experience for you guys?

We won the Northern Country Regional Final, we were really surprised to win the first Macedon Ranges heat as we were up against bands with heavier styles and we were the odd ones out but lucky enough to win! It’s been an amazing experience, and its given us a lot of exposure and the opportunity to share our music with everyone.

You’ll now be battling it out with eight other bands at the Grand Final at Melbourne’s Moomba Festival 2016 for a pretty sweet prize pack. Which prize excites you most and why?

We’d be stoked to have the opportunity to record and release some of our original music because it gives us a professional experience and allows us to share our music with more people.

What were your favourite songs or albums for 2015? What music are you most looking forward to next year?

The Paper Kites and Patrick James released a couple of cool albums we’ve been loving. Great vibes.

Where have you performed? What are your favourite shows to play at?

We’ve done a lot of local pubs and cafes and small music festivals. The regional final was our favourite gig so far, there was a lot of atmosphere and support for us there.

If you had unlimited amounts of money, what would be your dream gig or tour? Where would it be, who would be playing, etc?

It would be really cool to play at some of the big music festivals in Europe that get massive crowds but that’s a fair way off yet!

What’s the plan for your band in 2016, what will you be doing or working on?

We don’t have anything big planned just yet, we’ll just go with the flow and see what happens!

Where can fans find out more about you and upcoming shows?

We have a Facebook page where we post info about our gigs and news –
