Push Summits: Free music industry training
The dates for this year’s Push Freeza Summits have been announced, with The Push bringing FREE music and event training to Gippsland, Ballarat and Melbourne during June and July. Anyone is invited to attend these free professional development days to improve their knowledge of event management issues as well as participate in hands-on workshops, networking, and hear firsthand from music industry experts. Lunch is provided on the day.
The full program will be released in a couple of weeks. Dates and locations are as follows:
- Gippsland – Tuesday 30 June, 10:30am-3:30pm @ Traralgon Conference Centre, 49-63 Princes Street, Traralgon
- Ballarat – Tuesday 7 July, 10:30am-3:30pm @ Ballarat Town Hall, 225 Sturt Street, Ballarat
- Melbourne – Thursday 9 July, 10:30am-3:30pm @ Fitzroy Town Hall, 201 Napier St, Fitzroy

Expressions of Interest for The Push YAC
Expressions of Interest are being taken for the Youth Advisory Committee of The Push. We’re looking for young people aged 18-25 years who are committed to youth culture and development, preferably with experience in music or event activities like festivals, music events, and FReeZA committees. Vicious Recordings: Digital Marketing Assistant
Dance music label Vicious Recordings is looking for a Digital Marketing Assistant (paid position), for their office in South Yarra. You will report to the Digital Promotions Manager, and your primary role will be to assist with the execution of release plans on Social Media including posting, scheduling, updating and monitoring multiple pages and accounts across both the Label networks and artist’s pages. Artist applications for BigSound 2015 are open
BIGSOUND has been the breeding ground for some of the biggest Australian acts of the last decade, with national and international industry and punters converging on Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley to scout the next big thing. This year’s event will take over Fortitude Valley from September 9-11, with three days of panels, discussions and industry seminars and two nights of 140 bands across 14 of the hottest indoor and outdoor live music spaces. Youth Group Training in Shepparton
YACVic’s Rural Youth Service will be running a fun and interactive training workshop with a zombie apocalypse theme (yes, you heard right!) that will equip young people with the skills they need to create change, better understand themselves and their potential, work well together and have a greater impact in their community. Writers in South Gippsland wanted
ForHumanCulture is the only South Gippsland based online entertainment hub run by youth. They will be featuring local artists, musicians and performers every week. If you’re an artist who wants to be known, or if you can write reviews, interviews, poems, or have a local gig to promote, ForHumanCulture is the place to go. Musicland Open Mic Jam Night
Located in Falkner, Musicland runs open mic / jam nights during the month. Why not bring your band, or tell your mates’ band to have an impromptu gig? It’s open to bands/individual players/duos/music lovers, all ages and all genres, with a quality backline supplied (drums, guitar and bass rigs provided. Just bring your instruments to play), Sound, Lighting, PA Engineer supplied, plus recordings available for those who want their set recorded. ACMI 2015 program: ten student positions available
If you’re at school doing Year 10, 11 or 12 this year, and have a passion for film and documentaries, check out Hothouse at ACMI. Hothouse aims to develop the youth of Victoria’s screen talent by running an intensive one week workshop during June/July. Their focus this year is Documentaries. Gasworks Arts Park Internships
Gasworks Arts Park have on offer three internships for those interested in events management, festivals and managing a venue. They’re in need of some fabulous individuals to assist with a number of events throughout the year. Internships will take place during Sep/Oct where Gasworks Arts Park will be having a number of exciting shows as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Apply by June 30 at www.gasworks.org.au
