The stunning Docklands waterfront location combined with the glorious sunshine and later on, the bright lights of the city created an impressive festival environment. Bands extended their signing times to ensure that no punters missed out on their chance for an autograph. Nine bands representing the music being made by young people across Victoria battled it out in the FReeZA Push Start Grand Final on the Push Start stage. Congratulations go to winners Lemonsmile, a post-punk rockin’ foursome from Strathmore. Lemonsmile were rapt with their prize which includes studio recording time and mastering. Congratulations also to The Fearless Vampire Killers who took out second place and the APRA Musicianship Award.. One of the judges Nicole Jones of Shiny Records says, “I was amazed at how talented all the bands in Push Start were! Push Start is a great initiative, and it is so important that organisations such as The Push help new and emerging bands get a foot up into the industry.” Young bands across Victoria looking for their big break can now download Expression of Interest forms for the 2007 FReeZA Push Start competition from www.thepush.asn.au to be part of Push Over in 2008. The Push It! Stage saw over 100 young people participating in the break dancing battles and the Emcee freestyle competition, with the K.O. crew winning the 3 on 3 breakin’ battle and Nikoteen taking first place in the Emcee freestyle competition. The Push extends a huge thank you to all of the artists, punters, staff and volunteers who made Push Over 2007 such a huge success. Push Over is supported by Triple J, FReeZA and FReeZACentral.
