FReeZA Push Start Feature: The Evercold

The Evercold took out first place at the FReeZA Push Start Southern Metro Regional Final on December 5, 2014 in Casey. They will join eight other regional final winners to play at the FReeZA Push Start Grand Final to be held at the City Of Melbourne’s Moomba Festival on Saturday March 7, 2015.

theevercold2Hi The Evercold, what’s the name of your band, who’s in it and were are you from?

We are The Evercold and we are from the south east suburbs of Melbourne and our lovely members are

  • Chris – Vocals
  • Jake – Guitar
  • Jamal – Bass
  • Josh – Drums

Briefly tell us the story behind your band and how long you’ve been making music and writing songs?

Well in 2009 we started out as a local band that consisted of half the members of The Evercold, we were just kids writing breakdown after breakdowns, whilst working on our head bang and ‘crabcore’ technique… in 2011 said band broke up and we formed The Evercold with Chris as the front man.

Which Regional Final did you win, and how was the FReeZA Push Start competition experience for you guys?

We won the Southeast Regional Final this year, well we have been competing in this event for quite a number of years and every year it is a whole bunch of fun for us and we loved every minute of it! Seeing all the local talents in the one room in one night is definitely something we looked forward to!

You’ll now be battling it out with eight other bands at the Grand Final at Melbourne’s Moomba Festival 2015 for a pretty sweet prize pack. Which prize excites you most and why?

In all honesty we haven’t heard what the prizes are for the grand final but we are all sure that they are nothing short of amazing!

What were your favourite songs or albums for 2014? What music are you most looking forward to next year?

The Difference Between Hell And Home by Canadian band Counterparts was definately one of the best albums of the year in my opinion, and also our Sydney homies Vices new record Sustain really stuck out for me (Jake), Everytime I Die also was a great release! (Jamal). As for next year there is so much music we are keen for! Our brother band The Approach will be dropping their newest EP which will be insane!

Where have you performed? What are your favourite shows to play at?

We’ve played all across Melbourne in such venues as The Corner Hotel, The Reverence, The Evlyn, Phoniex Youth Centre, Drop Out (RIP), house shows, Wrangler Studios. I think as a band our favorite place to play has been Wrangler Studios just because it can be such an intimate vibe with the crowd. Our favorite shows to play are always the ones with our friends and with bands who we love and admire.

If you had unlimited amounts of money, what would be your dream gig or tour? Where would it be, and who would be playing?

Our dream tour/gig would have to be the Vans Warped Tour in the states just because every year the bands on that tour are some of the best talent the world has to offer and we would love to be apart of that one day. Bands like Counterparts, Citizen, Title Fight, Architects, Stray From the Path, Hundreth, Rage Against The Machine… could go on and on about the other bands haha.

What’s the plan for your band in 2015, what will you be doing or working on?

We are in the process of writing new music with a much more professional direction so we can take the next big step as a band and hopefully start touring!

Where can fans find out more about you and upcoming shows?
