After a rigorous climb to the top, the 2016 FReeZA Push Start grand finalists are ready to take the stage, going head to head as part of City of Melbourne’s Moomba Festival at Alexandra Gardens at Birrarung Marr Park on Friday 11th March. This year’s finalists look to bring a wide variety of styles to the festival’s The Push Stage with rap, metal, rock and folk music being some of the genres on display, ensuring a home grown show that should cater to everyone’s tastes.
The nine finalists, coming together from all over Victoria are: Selling Time (Northern Metro), Mosey (Northern Country), Mother Culture (Southern Metro), Sparks (Eastern Metro), Against Our Pride (Barwon South West), Short Term (Hume), Viscera (Mallee Wimmera), Tommy Castle’s Band (Western Metro) and latest additions to the lineup, Saturday Girl (Gippsland). They’re all going up against each other for the $11,000+ grand prize and the APRA AMCOS Songwriting Award prize pack of $150 worth of career-assisting books. Plus, all finalists gain the experience of playing at Australia’s largest community run festival in Moomba!
Following the FReeZA Push Start competition, The Push stage will play host to Melbourne pop six piece Alpine.
The FReeZA Push Start Battle Of The Bands is funded through the FReeZA Program, a Victorian Government Initiative.
