Alyssa Allet from Keysborough is one of our finalists for this year’s Push Start Competition being held on the Push Stage at St Kilda Festival. Read on to find out more!
What’s the name of your act, who’s in it and where are you from?
My name is Alyssa Allet and I am from Keysborough Victoria
Briefly tell us the story behind your band and how long you’ve been making music and writing songs?
I started singing at the age of 6, picked up guitar at 11 and started writing at 12. I’ve always loved music and it’s been really cool to have learnt and done what I have so far.
What are your band’s musical influences? Have they evolved from when the band first started out?
Tori Kelly, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and Coldplay, mainly. Yeah for sure, some of my influences have remained the same, but I have found a lot of inspiration from new artists. It’s allowed me to experiment, which is always fun!
Which Regional Final did you win, and how was the FReeZA Push Start competition experience for you all?
I won the Southern Regional Final. The overall experience has been really good. It’s been great to meet new people with a love for music and perform alongside them.
You’ll now be battling it out with eight other bands at the Grand Final at The Push Stage at St Kidla Festival 2017 for a pretty sweet prize pack. Which prize excites you most and why?
1.Probably the recording as I’d be able to record another one of my songs, 2.band equipment as it would give me the opportunity to learn more instruments and experiment, or 3.promotional prizes as I would be a great help to get my music out there!!
What were your favourite songs or albums for 2016? What music are you most looking forward to next year?
Coldplay’s ‘A head full of dreams’ and The 1975 ‘I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it’ and Cub Sport’s ‘This is our vice’. In 2017, I’m looking forward to seeing more alternative music entering the mainstream market. Also looking forward to new music from Ed Sheeran, the Vamps, Katy Perry and Tori Kelly.
Where have you performed? What are your favourite shows to play at?
Various festivals such as Frankston Waterfront Festival and Forest Edge Festival, church, bistros and cafes such as Yarraville club etc. I love all my gigs, but my favourites are festivals!!
If you had unlimited amounts of money, what would be your dream gig or tour?
I would love to travel the world and perform, so a world tour would be incredible. Also, would be amazing if I could be a support act for some of my favourite artists, such as Tori Kelly, Ed Sheeran or Coldplay. Don’t know if money can buy me these dream gigs, but would be awesome if it could!!!
What’s the plan for your band in 2017, what will you be doing or working on?
This year I’ll be finishing and releasing my debut EP ‘Find My Way’, gigging more and will be continuing to write for others and myself.
Where can fans find out more about you and upcoming shows?
On my Facebook page under my name ‘Alyssa Allet’ or on my Youtube Channel ‘Alzzy’.
